Jerry has been employed in the financial services industry since 1986 and directly managing investment portfolios and providing financial planning services since 1990. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science in 1984. Jerry established Piedmont Wealth Management in September 2013.

Throughout his more than 30 years in the financial services industry, Jerry has strived to increase his education and knowledge base. In 1996, he earned the CHARTERED FINANCIAL CONSULTANT (ChFC®) designation, a mark of excellence for financial planners for almost thirty years and currently requires more courses than any other financial planning credential. Within the same year, Jerry also earned the CHARTERED LIFE UNDERWRITER (CLU®), the highest-level designation available in the life insurance profession. Three years later, in 1999, he earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), the reputable standard in the practice for Financial Planning.

Jerry is also a Director and founder of Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization which provides food assistance to families and individuals in need in Charlottesville and the surrounding communities.

Interests:

  • Family—married for over 37 years to his college sweetheart (Juli). Have two children, Nicholas (wife is Kelsey) and Katie (husband is Eric); and 2 grandchildren, Jacob and Jennie. Much of life revolves around family activities including building a second home as a family project and traveling and vacationing together.

Community participation

  • Loaves & Fish Food Pantry, Inc.—Founder of the 501(c)(3). Began as an outreach ministry of First United Methodist Church in Charlottesville Virginia in 2002. Later (2011) developed into a stand-alone non-profit—Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry. In addition to being the founder and active since 2002, Jerry has been a Board member from its inception as a non-profit in 2011 through today. He has served as past Chairman of the Board and currently is a member of the Development Committee.
  • Active Member of First United Methodist Church—Jerry has been active at FUMC since moving back to Charlottesville in late 1999.
